Empowered Play: Education the NEXT Scholar Way

NEXT Scholars explored the role of play as a dynamic and essential tool for teaching, learning and living. How might play sustain us, and allow us to engage and connect in new ways with each other?

Highlights of the day included:

• NEXT Scholar Markell, a music educator and fitness instructor, led us in joyful movement!
• A celebration of graduating NEXT Scholars Name, Name and Name.
• Sandbox Hangout.  
• Dramatic Solutions
• Nature’s Classroom. This workshop encouraged us to be attentive to what is overlooked and ignored in our environment, and provided us an outdoor open studio to create with found materials.
• NEXT: In Fashion! A impromptu fashion show, where participants found creative ways to move and strut in response to the question, “What kind of teacher will you be?”
• As always, there was time to connect over a shared meal!
